Polls show the overwhelming majority of Americans have a mistrust of their government. In fact, the trust factor for every branch of government is at an all time low. Sadly, the ineptitude of government combined with our politicians’ lack of integrity has our nation on the precipice of spiritual, moral, and financial bankruptcy. Cynicism has become the dominant attitude of our day and the outlook for the future of America is pessimistic at best!
We cannot bank on the promises of our leaders; however, we can trust in the LORD and His promises to care for His people.  Solomon exhorted his son, “Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: 10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine” (Prov. 3:9-10).  Moses challenged Israel, “remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth”  (Deut. 8:18). The Lord taught His disciples, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33).
Permit me to close with an exhortation and a question: Do an attitude check and ask yourself: “Where are my treasures?”
“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: ?But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21?)
