calvin-hobbes-new-years-resolutions-572x433How’s that “New Year’s Resolution” going this Tuesday, February 18, 2014?

Yes, I know that is a personal question, but the reality is the majority of us have a long history of making resolutions only to falter in our course and ultimately, after a few guilty “restarts”, resign ourselves to yet another failure!

My challenge: Don’t Do It!

Don’t quit! Determine to stick with the resolution, especially if it is in spiritual matters (which in reality touches every phase of a Christian’s life)!cat

1)      If you committed to exercise and get in shape—Do it!

2)  If you committed to lose weight—Do it! Remember Solomon has a verse for that: put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite” (Proverbs 23:2).

3) If you committed to have daily devotions from God’s Word—Do it!

Some of you committed to have daily devotions and make this year a spiritual milestone!  Sadly, some have started to slip and slide your way through another futile year! Don’t do it! Life is too precious and brief to falter in the pursuit of spiritual growth.

devotionsFor me, the task of writing a daily devotional from the Book of Proverbs is both a labor of love and a challenge of personal discipline.  I devote on average an hour to mine golden nuggets from Proverbs, meditate on them and share with you a practical application. It is my earnest desire that the proverbs of Solomon will challenge your heart and transform your life.

Stop making excuses—let’s fly like eagles!

Isaiah 40:31 – “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”i40-eagle
