Proverbs 11:15 – Guaranteeing a debt?—Don’t Do It!

Credit Card debtSolomon returns to a familiar theme in our study of Proverbs—Money!

Proverbs 11:15 – “He that is surety [guaranteeing or securing another’s debt] for a stranger [foreigner; outside the family] shall smart for it [be harmed; hurt]: and he that hateth [avoids; detests] suretiship [borrowing with excessive interest] is sure [preserved, confident; secure from its consequences].”

The danger of loaning money or co-signing a loan for another is once again the student debtsubject of Solomon’s exhortation to his son. For a more lengthy study of this matter I invite you to consider two earlier devotionals taken from Proverbs 6:1-6.

What is Solomon’s advise for guaranteeing a loan for another—Don’t Do It!
