November 19, 2014 – Ferguson and what it says about our time and nation

riotsThis brief blog is not meant to be anything more than an observation concerning the times and moral condition of our society.

Our nation and world is waiting for a decision to be handed down by a grand jury in Missouri that was tasked with the responsibility of deciding whether or not charges are to be brought against a Ferguson policeman in the shooting death of Michael Brown. Prior to his death, Michael Brown and a friend were videotaped committing a strong-arm robbery against a storeowner that was diminutive in size compared to Brown. The interpretations of the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of Brown have been murky; however, the members of the jury have weighed the evidence and their verdict regarding charges is imminent.

Sadly, while our law system is tasked with the responsibility of justice, the spirit of the Ferguson community appears to want nothing less than vigilantism. Adding to the rioting and lawlessness that occurred following the death of Michael Brown has been a fomenting spirit among community and national leaders that invokes nothing short of the criminal activity of “inciting to riot”.Ferguson

Make no mistake; we are witnessing the moral breakdown of a nation that has rejected God’s Law. The spirit of lawlessness we are witnessing in Ferguson will spread like a cancer if our nation does not turn back to God and elect leaders who fear God and uphold justice and righteousness.

I mourn for Ferguson, our community and nation.

Proverbs 29:2 – When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.”
