marriageI have stated on several occasions my astonishment at the prevalence of Solomon’s frank discussions on immorality and adultery with his son.   Solomon models a responsibility every father and mother bears:  Teach your sons and daughters Biblical principles of morality and the sanctity of marriage.

Solomon admonished his son concerning the toll of immorality with a series of questions in Proverbs 6:27-28 and exposed the deep wounds and scars adultery inflicts on a family in Proverbs 6:29-31.  Continuing our devotion in Proverbs 6, we pick up where we concluded in December —Proverbs 6:32.

Adultery also robs a man of his good standing and reputation (6:32-33).

Divorce conceptProverbs 6:32-33“But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding [without moral principle]: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul [life]. 33 A wound and dishonour [disgrace] shall he get; and his reproach [shame] shall not be wiped away.”

Be forewarned: Immorality will destroy your home and its scars will follow you to your grave!

Read that last sentence again…The scars of adultery will haunt you the rest of your life.

1 Corinthians 6:18 – “Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.”
