Proverbs 14:28 – “In the multitude [abundance; greatness] of people [nation; men] is the king’s honour [decoration; beauty; glory]: but in the want [end; without; nothing; dearth] of people [community; nation] is the destruction [dissolution; ruin] of the prince [potentate].”
Solomon’s statement on the relationship of the character of a nation and its reflection on a king was from a monarchical perspective. A great king is a ruler of a vast and powerful people; however, a king who chose war at the sacrifice of a multitude of his subjects would not only diminish his honor in the eyes of his people, but would also put his throne and nation at risk.
There is a parallel to this parable that I must apply to our nation and its moral, financial and social decline. 55,772,015 infants have been aborted in the United States since the fateful ruling by the Supreme Court in the case of Roe vs. Wade in 1973. Believing Solomon’s perspective in Proverbs 14:28 is Truth, one is shaken by the reality there is a correlation in America’s butchery of her children and our precipitous decline as a nation.
We have chosen a path of self-destruction, elected to the highest offices those who are proponents of gross immorality and, apart from revival have sealed our fate with the sacrifice of our children and future as a nation. God help us!
