Proverbs 29:26 – “Many seek the ruler’s favour; but every man’s judgment cometh from the LORD.”
“Truth, Justice and the American Way” was not only an idealistic theme of the Superman Comic series; it was once the aspiration of American society (at least conceptually). Until the 20th century, citizens of the United States expected their government; politicians and judicial system would be fair, honest and just. Tragically, we are no longer that nation and political charlatans who care more for the advancement of their careers and power than they do the pursuit of truth and justice have compromised our judicial and legislative system.
My friend, that is the bad news; however, the good news in matters of justice and fairness is found in Proverbs 29:26.
Proverbs 29:26 – “Many seek [strive after; desire] the ruler’s [governor; master] favour [face; presence; person; i.e. acceptance]; but every man’s judgment [verdict; discretion; decree] cometh from the LORD [Jehovah; Eternal, Self-Existent God].”
God is Sovereign and, though men hate truth and are bias in their judgments, you can trust God! Kings, presidents, prime ministers, dictators and judges often violate the commandments and laws of God; however, God is Omnipotent and steers the affairs of state to achieve His eternal purpose that is for His glory and the good of the people who call upon His name (Romans 8:28-29).
You need not compromise your integrity to enjoy the fickle favor of a ruler when you remember, “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: He [the LORD] turneth it whithersoever He will” (Proverbs 21:1).
