target logo1One of the great tragedies of the 21st century is our society’s assault on childhood innocence and the erosion of moral purity in our youth.

I am afraid the August 7, 2015 announcement that Target is eliminating “boys” and “girls” distinctions from its bedding and toy aisles drew little more than a yawn from most American households oblivious to the assault on traditional moral values that is being directed at the hearts of children.  The giant retailer, second only to Wal-Mart, has cast its lot in with activists demanding cultural change and embracing what is described as “gender-bending” and The Washington Post declares a “real cultural shift”.early childhood

My preparation for this Sunday’s morning message from Matthew 18:1-6 (“A Preschooler’s Innocence: A Model of Trust and Saving Faith”), has reminded me that innocence and trust are characteristic of early childhood [the Bible teaches the nature of man is sinful, but I am referring to the naivety of children inexperienced in the ways of sin and unconscious of their own sinfulness].   It is the innocence and trust Christ observed in a young child as a model of saving faith in Matthew 18 that is also the quality that makes them the object of the wicked bent on indoctrinating them in the way of sin.

target logoTarget, like other major American corporations, is gambling that American family households will do little more than a critical Facebook post and soon forget their actions are part of a greater assault on God’s definition of human sexuality–that He is the Author of life and has declared mankind to be “Male and Female” (Matthew 19:4).  Target is following the path of other American corporations.

The assault on childhood innocence in the past two decades has been facilitated by popular television programming like the Disney channel and cartoons that expose and indoctrinate children with worldly attitudes, values and sexually suggestive innuendoes that were historically foreign to childhood development until adolescence.  Following the mandate of liberal educators and politicians who do not share traditional moral and family values, naïve parents have invested blind trust in teachers and administrators who begin sexual indoctrination of public school students as young as kindergarten.  The conclusion of such moral recklessness is predictable—elementary age children begin exploring sexual boundaries without a moral compass and their childhood curiosity is piqued by overt exposure and stimulation via the Internet, TV programming, cartoons and peers.

Enlisting with this immoral assault on our children are big box stores like Target that are embracing asexuality, erasing the natural distinctive between male and female, perpetuating the moral decay of our nation, and eroding the pillars of society– faith, marriage and family.

Fellow Christian, it’s time to exercise your moral conscience and boycott Target!

Romans 1:24-32 – “Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25  Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26  For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27  And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 28  And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29  Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30  Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31  Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32  Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.”
