My twenty-month long focus on the Proverbs of Solomon is coming to a close in the next month and today’s verses serve as a comforting assurance that the wisdom and sovereignty of God are concrete assurances to the saints of God who will avail themselves of His truths and promises.
Proverbs 21:30 There is no wisdom [wit] nor understanding [insight; discernment] nor counsel [purpose; plan; advice] against the LORD.
Proverbs 21:30 declares the plots and schemes of the wicked will not stand against the Lord Who is Sovereign, Omnipotent and Omniscient. Men have opposed God, scorned His Law, mocked His church and martyred His saints for millenniums; however, the Word of God endures, His promises have not failed and His church, though attacked from without and within prevails!
The enemies of the Lord take counsel against the saints; the ungodly offend the righteous by their immoral ways and the worldly-wise philosopher opposes the Word of God; however, God assures His people “the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God” (1 Corinthians 3:19) and pales in comparison to the Lord who “knoweth the thoughts of the wise [their reasonings], that they are in vain [foolish and futile].”
2 Timothy 3:16-17 – “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”
