The following is the author’s weekly bulletin letter to the church that he pastors, Hillsdale Baptist Church, Tampa, FL. The church website is located at www.HillsdaleBaptist/org.

Standing at the threshold of the New Year, I am stunned that we are embarking on 2024 in two days. I understand it is the nature of older people to look back on life and the heart of youth to anticipate the joys waiting on the next horizon. Yet, maturity and experience bring invaluable lessons if we are willing to take time and reflect on the wonders of God’s providences and provisions throughout the years.

This Sunday morning’s sermon at Hillsdale Baptist Church will be taken from 2 Samuel 22 and King David’s reflections on the past. Old and frail in years, the king remembered the indescribable evidence of God’s grace and mercies. I pray we will glean from that elderly king’s musings and be inspired to look ahead with faith in the LORD and courage as we face the opportunities and challenges ahead.

“Logos: A Journey of Faith, Hope, and Love”

January 1, 2024, marks the beginning of the second year of a two-year chronological study of God’s Word. We began last January 1 with Genesis 1, and our devotional readings have studied seventeen Old Testament books. In the year ahead, my daily Bible studies\devotionals at www.HeartofAShepherd.com will continue in the Old Testament and complete the New Testament by December 31, 2024.
